The Three Round Types

Run one, or set a plan and the game rotates through all three, round after round, with the scores carried over.

Round Type One

Word Race

A hidden word, and a phone full of guesses. Every guess colours in: green where a letter is right and in the right spot, amber where the letter is in there somewhere. Fewer guesses and a quicker finish mean more points, so the room goes properly silent about thirty seconds in.

Green is right, in the right place. Amber is right, in the wrong place.

Round Type Two

Scramble

A jumbled word lands on the big screen and the first correct answer takes it. The host can type in their own word, so the venue's name, the bride's name or the boss's surname can go up there in pieces. The answer never leaves the host device, so nobody can peek at it.

Eight letters, one answer, first phone to get it wins.

Round Type Three

Longest Word

Nine random letters go up and everyone builds the best word they can from them. Every submission is checked against a real dictionary on our server, so nobody gets away with inventing one. Longest word wins the round, and there is always one person who finds an eight.

Nine letters. One timer. No dictionaries under the table.

How the Host Runs It

Players join by scanning the QR code on the big screen. Same session code as every other game, so nobody rejoins anything.

Set the Plan

Choose which rounds you want and how many, pick easy, medium or hard, and set the clock. Or take the defaults and start, which is what most hosts do.

Phone Play

Words go up on the big screen, answers come in from the phones. No app download, no sign-up, and latecomers join mid-game with the same QR code.

Server-Checked Answers

Longest Word submissions are validated against a real dictionary and against the letters on the rack. If it is not a word, it scores nothing. No adjudicating.

Fair Timing

The host device times every submission as it arrives, so speed points are decided by one clock, not by whoever fiddles their phone settings.

Automatic Scoring

Points for speed, points for the longest word, and a leaderboard on the big screen between rounds. Nothing to mark, nothing to add up.

One Difficulty Dial

Set it to easy and it is a warm-up. Set it to hard and the regulars will complain in a way that means they enjoyed it. Same game, one setting.

Nothing to Print, Nothing to Mark

No answer sheets, no pens, no printed anything. The words go on the big screen, the answers come in on phones, and the dictionary does the marking. Host from your phone, tablet or laptop.
